Puri: Mahaprabhu’s Shri Jagannath Bank deposit has crossed 1100 crores. If we calculate the annual interest rate of 7% on this deposit, it will cross 77 crores. If we calculate the interest rate per day, this deposit is getting 21 lakh rupees and more than 6 crores of rupees per month. The administration of Shrimandir now has a donation fund in the name of Mahaprabhu in about 7 nationalized banks. This month, 37 crores 87 lakh rupees have been deposited in the Shrimandir fund in Bank of Baroda. This money has been deposited at an interest rate of 7.65%.
This month, the said 37.67 crore rupees were received as maturity from two nationalized banks, Bank of Baroda and Union Bank. Later, adding the income fund this month, a total of 37.87 crores has been deposited in Bank of Baroda. In the presence of the Development Administrator and Chartered Accountant of the temple, the Bank of Baroda has been given higher interest on the basis of bidding. This month, the hundi income has increased as expected. Looking at the data of the last week, between June 12 and 19, 53 lakh 47 thousand 976 rupees have been collected from the hundi alone. Out of which 12 lakh 65 thousand 769 rupees are on June 12 alone. After this, people are also giving online donations and receipt donations in large quantities.
Despite the huge donations from the devotees, the administration is not able to provide adequate basic facilities for them inside or outside the temple. The administration of the temple has made three separate deposit arrangements. There are three funds named Corps Fund, Temple Fund, Foundation Fund. It is used by the administration for different purposes. According to official data, in 2021-22, Rs 8 crore 23 lakh 13 thousand 127 were received from hundi, Rs 6 crore 83 lakh 31 thousand 961 through bank accounts and Rs 2 crore 25 lakh 31 thousand 947 from other sources. Similarly, in 2022-23, Rs 15 crore 46 lakh 17 thousand 152 were received from hundi, Rs 30 crore 72 lakh 27 thousand 216 from bank accounts and Rs 4 crore 62 lakh 343 from other sources.
In 2023-24, Rs 16 crore 92 lakh 36 thousand 947 were received from hundi, Rs 22 crore 24 lakh 39 thousand 918 through bank accounts and Rs 8 crore 73 lakh 57 thousand 701 from other sources. In these three financial years, Rs 40 crore 61 lakh 67 thousand were received from hundi, Rs 59 crore 79 lakh 99 thousand 95 from bank accounts, and Rs 12 crore 60 lakh 89 thousand 541 from other sources. Similarly, in these three years, 12 kg 284 grams 424 milligrams of gold and 241 kg 129 grams 635 milligrams of silver were received from hundi and other sources.
The administration is investing 10% of the money received from hundi and donations of less than Rs 500 coming from other sources in the daily work of the temple. Similarly, the administration is using the gold and silver donations for the repair and decoration of various ornaments. The surplus gold and silver is being kept in the locker of the temple administration or the bank locker of the temple administration. Similarly, in 2024-25, the government has given Rs 500 crore under the corpus section of the temple administration. This has been kept as the main section of the temple.
