Odisha Set to Break All Records in Industrial Growth; Aiming to Become Eastern India’s Top Hub

Industrialization will have a major contribution to the development of Odisha. At the CII-Eastern Regional Council meeting in 2026, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented a new roadmap for industrial development and regional growth of the state. The Chief Minister has announced a groundbreaking new platform ‘Go East’ to accelerate the industrialization process of Odisha and the entire eastern Indian states. The Chief Minister said that through this new initiative, industrial groups from the entire eastern and northeastern states will get ample opportunities to invest in Odisha while keeping their industrial base and market safe in their own states. Odisha’s industrialization has reached a large scale in the last 2 years. In the next 5 years, Odisha will become the best state in eastern India in terms of industrialization and growth.

The Chief Minister said at the CII-Eastern Regional Council meeting 2026 that a high-level special task force will be formed in the state under the Go East policy, which will accelerate all investment projects. A special ‘Go Swift’ module will also be created for real-time monitoring and tracking of the investment process and approval status. This step will result in maximum investment in the border districts of the state and many new industrial growth centers will be set up there. The Chief Minister informed that the state’s Industrial Policy Resolution-2022 has been amended. This amendment will create ample opportunities for setting up non-mineral based industries in 15 major districts of the state like Balangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Boudh and Gajapati, which are known as economically backward and backward regions.

In his speech, the Chief Minister told all the industrialists that for the last few decades, India’s economic growth was mainly dependent on the Western and Southern Corridors. But now the next big chapter in India’s development story is being written in Eastern India. Our goal is to link the ‘Prosperous Odisha 2036’ vision with ‘Developed India 2047’ and make the state the most investor-friendly place in Eastern India. He said that Odisha is playing a key role in this transformation journey. Since June 2024, the Odisha government has sanctioned 477 projects worth about Rs 9.5 lakh crore, which will generate employment for 6 lakh people.
