Number One in Entire Country! How Odisha Secretariat Won Highest Platinum Green Certification

Odisha Lok Bhavan has achieved the prestigious Platinum Green Campus Certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Odisha Lok Bhavan has become the first Lok Bhavan in India to achieve this certification.

Lok Bhavan, the office of the Governor of Odisha, has received this certification under the I GBC Green Campus Rating System. Lok Bhavan Campus has secured a score of 88 out of 100, ranking in the highest Platinum category of IGBC. This rating reflects Odisha’s commitment to building sustainable governance infrastructure and climate-resilient public institutions. Lok Bhavan has received this recognition for integrating sustainability into the campus planning, infrastructure and day-to-day operations.

Lok Bhavan campus has taken various steps like energy-efficient systems, use of renewable energy, water conservation, biodiversity protection, scientific waste management, sustainable mobility and welfare of the residents. Expressing happiness over this success, Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati said, “I want to see all the universities of Odisha become green campuses.” Thousands of students are studying in the campuses, the Governor expressed hope that they will follow this and follow it.

Minister of State Prithviraj Harichandan said that this is a matter of pride and honor for Odisha. He said that this recognition of Lok Bhavan will inspire the government buildings to be built in the state in the coming days. He said that the state government will be requested to take steps towards achieving such recognition by emphasizing green building standards in hospitals, schools and other government buildings to be built by the government in the future. This success of Lok Bhawan has shown a new direction for building environmentally friendly, energy-efficient and sustainable government infrastructure in the state.
