Today, we share an inspiring story that will teach you innovative ways to build significant wealth, even with a modest income. We present the story of a young man’s journey: there was a time when his monthly income was merely ₹18,000, yet today, at the age of 26, his annual salary has reached approximately ₹50 lakh. Furthermore, within just three years, he has amassed financial assets worth between ₹65 lakh and ₹75 lakh. This is the story of Arjun Parmar from Ujjain, who transformed his financial situation through hard work, technical expertise, and disciplined investment habits—despite having faced the adversity of losing his job along the way. A journey that began with a salary of ₹18,000…
Arjun Parmar hails from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. His father runs a small business dealing in electrical goods, while his mother is a homemaker. Arjun studied Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT). However, during his college days, he struggled to find a job in the field of computer science, which was his area of interest. To overcome this challenge, he began learning programming, coding, and software development. In 2023, he secured a job at Tech Mahindra. His initial annual salary was approximately ₹2.2 lakh, translating to a monthly income of around ₹18,000. Despite a low income, he cultivated the habit of saving. He sent money to his parents every month and kept his expenses limited to his necessities. By the end of 2023, he had also started a monthly SIP of ₹5,000.
By the time he changed jobs, his income had reached ₹1 lakh…
A major shift occurred in Arjun’s career in October 2024. After working at Tech Mahindra for about 15 months, he joined Accenture. There, his annual package increased to approximately ₹1.2 lakh. While living in Bengaluru, he kept his expenses under control. While managing expenses for rent, food, and transport, he increased his monthly SIP contribution to between ₹35,000 and ₹40,000. During this period, he also began sending more money to his family.
A shock after the ₹45 lakh package…
In August 2025, Arjun landed a job at a major global technology company. His annual package reached approximately ₹45 lakh—a significant increase from his starting salary. Along with his rising income, his expenses also went up; costs associated with better housing, dining out, and travel increased. Despite this, he continued to invest between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.25 lakh every month. However, in May 2026, he lost his job due to company restructuring; his well-paying job came to an end in less than a year. Fortunately, Arjun had an emergency fund of approximately ₹6 lakh. This gave him the time to look for a new job instead of having to sell his investments. He eventually secured a package of ₹50 lakh. After losing his job, Arjun began preparing for coding, technical interviews, and system design. After facing setbacks with several roles, he landed a job at another major global technology company in September 2026. Currently, his annual CTC is around ₹50 lakh. This does not mean that ₹4.2 lakh is deposited into his bank account every month. After taxes and other deductions, his regular monthly in-hand salary is estimated to be around ₹2.8 to ₹3 lakh.
How did he accumulate assets worth ₹75 lakh in three years?
Mutual funds constitute the largest portion of Arjun’s financial assets. His portfolio includes mutual fund investments worth approximately ₹35 lakh to ₹40 lakh. Additionally, he has invested ₹7–10 lakh in direct equities, ₹8–10 lakh in company stock-based compensation (RSU), and ₹7–8 lakh in an emergency fund. He also has investments in gold, EPF, retirement savings, and cryptocurrency. His total financial assets are estimated to be around ₹65–75 lakh.
The goal of amassing ₹5 crore by the age of 35…
Arjun now aims to build an investment portfolio worth ₹5 crore by the time he turns 35. His objective is to achieve financial independence by around age 40, allowing him to pursue work based on his interests rather than simply working for a salary. His story offers three key lessons. First, the habit of saving and investing can be started even with a modest salary. Second, it is crucial to prevent expenses from rising in tandem with income. Thirdly, an emergency fund should be established to cope with uncertainties like job loss. Arjun’s journey demonstrates that building wealth requires more than just selecting good investments; it also entails increasing your income, investing regularly, and being prepared for difficult times.
