The case of Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav is getting more and more complicated in the case of violence in Patna during the protests in Bihar. The police have registered a case against him under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This includes Section 109 (attempt to murder). If the charges are proven in the court, the accused can be imprisoned for up to 10 years and fined. In case of serious injuries, the accused can also be imprisoned for life. So Tej Pratap may have to face this sentence.
A court in Patna has sent Tej Pratap to judicial custody for 14 days. After this, he has been lodged in the Beur Central Jail. He was arrested from a shopping mall in Patna on Saturday evening. After this, he was tried. His lawyer has raised questions about the action taken against Tej Pratap and said that he will soon apply for bail in the court. Police allege that many police personnel, including Gandhi Maidan police station in-charge Akhilesh Mishra and TOP in-charge Pramod Kumar, were injured during the protest. It is worth noting that this protest was going on in Bihar in protest against the NEET question paper leak.
Brother Tejashwi Yadav has reacted to Tej Pratap’s arrest. He has raised questions. Why are cases being registered against the protesters after the resolution? Why are they being sent to jail? He said, “We thank all the students who protested against the paper leak. They fought for a better future. The opposition parties also supported them. We also joined this fight.”
He further said, “It was agreed that the cases registered against all those involved in the protest will be withdrawn, regardless of the state in which the protest took place, Bihar is the motherland of democracy.” Bihar shows the way to the country. The way the government and police took action in every district of Bihar, hundreds of students were detained, cases were registered under wrong sections, when it was decided that the cases against all the protesters would be withdrawn. In Bihar, cases of violence are being registered and people are being put in jail.
