One of the most prestigious awards in the world of art, the Oscars, has received a new update. This year’s Oscars saw a lot of success with films like “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” winning the most awards in the most categories. However, the rules of the Oscars are changing from 2027. Almost a century has passed since the inception of the prestigious awards, and now the organizers have announced some important changes to the ceremony.
The Oscars have changed some categories and relaxed some rules. As a result of these changes, artists will only receive what they deserve and will not be deprived of it due to strict rules. Let’s understand these three major changes in the Oscars and how it will benefit India…
Rule 1: Change in the Acting Category:
The biggest change in the Oscar rules is that any actor can now be nominated multiple times in the same category. Earlier, the Oscars did not provide this facility. Earlier, an actor could be nominated only once in a category. But now, they can be nominated twice. For example, if an actor has two best performances in a year and both of them got overwhelming votes, then two films can be included in that particular category.
Second Rule: No awards based on AI:
The second rule of the Oscars is based on technology. These days, AI is being used in films a lot. Producers are taking the help of AI to make scenes look better or to fill any gaps. Earlier, such performances were considered at the Oscars. However, a new rule says that this is no longer possible. AI Influenced Actors and Writers or any performance, no matter how much it is praised or not, such a performance cannot be nominated in any Oscar category.
Rule 3: India benefits from double nominations in categories:
One of the major changes made by the Oscars is the Best International Feature Film category. This change means that a country can now submit more than one film for submission to the Oscars through its official selection committee. This was not the case earlier. Earlier, only one film from any country could be submitted for Oscars in any category. However, now two films can be submitted for nomination in a single category. If this happens, then it will be no less than good news for India.
When will the Oscars 2027 start?
Talking about the 2027 Oscars, these changes in the ceremony will start from the 99th edition. Next year, the Oscars are scheduled to be held on March 14, 2027. The Oscars have a long history and will soon be celebrating their 100th anniversary. The Oscars have previously revised their rules to further celebrate the arts, and now, for the next edition, the Academy Awards have made significant changes.
