Tattoo Rules In Govt Jobs: Will You Get Rejected In Exams If You Have A Tattoo?

Tattoo trend is increasing among the youth. Some people are writing the name of their beloved on their hands, while others are fond of making religious symbols. Chest, stomach, back… They are getting tattoos wherever they want. But some youths who are preparing for government jobs always have a fear about tattoos. Will they not get a job if they get a tattoo? Will their long-term hard work go to waste? If they have already got a tattoo, will they have to erase it with a laser? Will they fail the medical test? Due to this fear, they do not get tattoos. So what is the truth behind this? Does tattooing really prevent you from getting a government job?

The answer is that not all government jobs have a tattoo ban. Most of the administrative jobs in the country- such as IAS, IPS, IRS, Banking, Railways, SSC-CGL, or Clerks- do not have a tattoo ban. If the tattoo does not contain any offensive, obscene or anti-national message, there will be no problem. However, there are strict rules regarding tattoos in jobs like the Army, Navy, Air Force or paramilitary forces. There are 2 reasons for banning tattoos in the defense sector. Medical risk- There is a possibility of contracting diseases like HIV through tattoos.

Identity crisis- In a war or emergency situation, having any permanent mark on the body can pose a security risk to you. This can easily be identified by the enemy.

However, the Indian Army has an official tattoo policy. Under this, you can get a tattoo in certain cases. Apart from this, special exemptions are given to candidates from tribal communities of India based on their cultural traditions. Apart from this, small religious symbols (such as Om, cross, or swastika) are also acceptable in certain areas. If you remove your tattoo completely and properly before the medical test, you will be considered eligible for government jobs. Care will be taken to ensure that there are no deep or unsightly scars after the tattoo is removed.
