Covid has returned after 4 years. In Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, 2 people have died of Covid and 4 have been identified as positive. The positives are being treated as per the Covid-19 guidelines. After Covid claimed lives in Andhra Pradesh, an atmosphere of terror has now been witnessed in the neighboring Odisha border district of Ganjam. There is a risk of infection from Andhra to Ganjam.
This is said to be a kind of alert not only for Ganjam but also for Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri districts. One of the two people who died in Andhra was identified as positive on June 28. He was first treated in Tirupati. Later he was shifted to Christian Medical College Vellore. He died there. The second person also died while undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College Vellore.
Meanwhile, four more people from Kadapa district have tested positive for the virus in the RT-PCR test. Three of them are in home isolation and one is undergoing treatment in a Covid-19 special ward of a local hospital, according to national media reports. All the positives and the deceased are suspected to be of the Omicron subvariant, and their samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for identification.
