If you want to buy fertilizer, bring your mobile phone. You can deposit money by scanning the UPI QR code in the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PAX) and go to the farmer and get it. You cannot get fertilizer by paying cash. After such restrictions, farmers who do not have mobile phones are sitting on their heads. They are worried about how to buy fertilizer.
However, according to the information received, farmers are being returned to the lamps in Nabarangpur districts after depositing money in the QR code. Farmers are not getting fertilizer in most of the lamps in the district. In the last Disha meeting, MP Balabhadra Majhi had asked how farmers who do not have Android mobile phones will deposit money in the QR code. However, such a situation is not only seen in Nabarangpur district, but in many parts of the state. Due to which farmers are worried about getting fertilizer.
While such a situation is seen across the state, in Jharsuguda and Kandhamal districts, Agristock-based fertilizer is being distributed. In these two districts, before buying fertilizer, the farmer will have to download the Framework for Fertilizer Sale app from the Google Play Store on his mobile. Then he will have to select the fertilizer shop and which fertilizer to buy. After applying, he will get a QR code or token. Which will be valid for only two days. However, it has not been clarified how the farmers who do not have a mobile phone in these two districts will get the fertilizer.
Similarly, for the first time in the state, the farmers have expressed their anger over the online transaction of fertilizer instead of paying cash. In the cash sale in the Lamps of Nabarangpur district, the farmers are getting the fertilizer only by depositing money in the QR code. Therefore, on Friday, Nabarangpur MLA Gourishankar Majhi visited the Lamps of Kosagumuda and understood the problems of the farmers. Nabarangpur DRCS Sarat Chandra Panigrahi had instructed the farmers to write letters to the lamps to sell Sar in cash. But the DRCS went to the village on Saturday on leave, saying that the letter would be sent. As a result, small and medium farmers who do not have mobile phones are rushing to the lamps for Sar. Especially July is an important month for farmers. If they do not get Sar, the crop yield will be hampered. On the one hand, to prevent corruption in the lamps and bring transparency in the sale of Sar, the department has issued instructions to the lamps to take money from the farmers in UPI QR code and pay Sar.

So they do not dare to give Sar to any farmer without lamps in QR code. As a result, the QR code has become a barrier for farmers to get urea from the lamps. This problem has arisen because not all farmers have smartphones. This district requires 53,800 metric tons of urea for the Kharif season. But so far, 31,000 metric tons of fertilizer have arrived in the district. So far, 15,100 metric tons of urea have been sold to farmers, the district agriculture department said. The lion’s share of farmers in the district have not received the required urea. Therefore, the farmers have expressed their dissatisfaction. Similarly, various farmer organizations have demanded an alternative system with QR code scanning to provide fertilizers across the state. Farmer leaders have warned that if new rules are suddenly imposed on farmers, there will be protests in the coming days.
In this regard, state Kisan Congress President Abhay Sahu said that farmers were not created in 2026. All farmers and sharecroppers who are already cultivating should be provided with the required fertilizer without paper. If there is any doubt, they should ask their local Revenue Inspector (RI) about this. Otherwise, if traditional farmers are deprived of fertilizer, there will be a protest, Kisan Congress state president Abhay has warned.
