Significant and sensitive news has emerged from Mumbai. Threats have been received to blow up Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s famous bungalow, ‘Jalsa’, as well as the Bombay High Court—one of the country’s prominent judicial institutions. Following the receipt of this alarming information via a threatening email, the Mumbai Police and various security agencies have been put on high alert.
Which locations are being targeted?
According to reports, the email in question does not just target Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow, ‘Jalsa’, or the Bombay High Court; it also identifies other major locations—such as the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the Worli Racecourse—as targets. Following the circulation of this news, security measures have been further tightened. The police are conducting a cyber investigation to determine the origin of the email and identify the sender.
Actors have received threats in the past as well:
Receiving such threats is not a new occurrence for Bollywood celebrities. Recently, actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Tusshar Kapoor also received threats that they would be blown up with a bomb. In the case involving the threat against Ayushmann Khurrana, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested the accused—who turned out to be an IT engineer—from Bengaluru. Similarly, the police also conducted an in-depth investigation into the case involving Tusshar Kapoor. The recent threat directed at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff has raised questions regarding the security of Bollywood stars. Speculation is intensifying as to whether the influence of the underworld or anti-social elements is once again growing within the Bollywood film industry.
Bombay High Court in the crosshairs:
The individual who issued the threats did not stop at targeting celebrities; they also threatened to blow up the Bombay High Court premises. It is worth noting that this is not an isolated incident; the Bombay High Court had received a similar threat previously, in September 2025. On that occasion, following the receipt of a threatening email, the High Court premises were evacuated and subjected to an extensive search operation—though no suspicious items were discovered. Following this second threat, security arrangements at the court have been further tightened.
