Sugar was increasing in price. People were working in sugarcane. Sugar was bought during fasting. But they did not leave it either. Sugarcane price has increased by 20 rupees per kg at once. Earlier it was 60 rupees, now it is 80. Not only sugar, but also sugarcane price has increased. Earlier it was 65 rupees, now it has increased by 15 rupees and has reached 80. Meanwhile, sugarcane price in the market has increased to 90 rupees per kg. With the arrival of the Parvan season, the increase in the price of sugarcane and sugarcane, which are used as an alternative to sugar, has worried consumers. It is said that there is no sugarcane production in Odisha. That is why sugarcane is coming from Rajasthan. Now the price of 20 kg of sugarcane has increased to 1600 rupees. Similarly, while the wholesale price of sugarcane is 71 rupees, it is being sold in the market for 80 rupees.

Sudhakar Panda, General Secretary of the All India Traders Federation, said that according to traders, everything is increasing in price because ethanol is being made from sugarcane. Due to the high prices of petroleum products, the price of goods has also increased. Due to which goods have become expensive. Meanwhile, the price of sugar has stopped at Rs 70 to 75. Fear of buying sugar as the prices have skyrocketed. Today, the Central Government has directed all the sugar traders of the country to register on the Food and Public Distribution Department portal and update the data of sugar stock every Friday. The Central Government has taken such a step in view of the increasing sugar prices and artificial shortage. Due to this, unscrupulous traders will not be able to store more sugar or create artificial shortage in the market. This is a welcome step, said Shri Panda.
