New Delhi, 13.4: Pakistan has become a mediator in the peace talks between the US, Israel and Iran. But on the other hand, it has indirectly participated in the war. Because Pakistan has now deployed 13000 troops and fighter jets in Iran at a time. Amid the Hormuz crisis, Pakistan’s two-pronged policy has now raised the question of whether it will work towards peace or support Saudi Arabia in the regional conflict. According to sources, Pakistan has deployed these fighter jets in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Ministry of Defense itself has announced this.
According to sources, Pakistan has deployed 17 F-17 fighter jets from its Air Force Squadron No. 11 at the King Abdul Aziz Air Base in the Dhahran region of Saudi Arabia near the Persian Gulf. The squadron is located just 220 km from the Iranian border, and will retaliate if Iran attacks Saudi Arabia. In addition, Pakistan has also deployed a mobile warship, a Saab-2000 aircraft, at Abdul Aziz Air Base. The Pakistani army uses it to detect and intercept enemy missiles before they arrive. The Saab-2000 is also used to monitor enemy activities, hence it is called the Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AWCS).
In Saudi Arabia, Pakistan has deployed its own fighter jets and Saab-2000 Airborne Early Warning and Control System, along with pilots flying these fighter jets and Saabs, and more than 20 other Pakistani pilots who will fly Saudi F-15 Eagle fighter jets in the event of an Iranian attack on Saudi Arabia. In addition, the Pakistani army has installed anti-drone systems at King Abdul Aziz Base, which were deployed in Karachi and Quetta.
Saudi Arabia has been constantly pressuring Pakistan to deploy its troops, fighter jets and other military assistance under the defense agreement. However, Pakistan has only made promises to Saudi Arabia every time. First, on March 6, in the midst of the war, Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Saudi Arabia and met Saudi Defense Minister Mohammed bin Zayed and promised that Pakistan would deploy its military forces to defend Saudi Arabia. However, Pakistan did not fulfill this promise. Last year, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a strategic defense agreement, according to which both countries will consider any attack by either side as an attack on themselves. It is said that these soldiers are deployed for defense and will not attack Iran.
The turning point in this case was the $ 3.5 billion loan given to Pakistan by the UAE. The installment of which Saudi Arabia demanded. After this, Pakistan first sought financial assistance from Saudi Arabia and then, from Thursday, April 9, it started deploying its army, fighter jets, anti-drone systems and Saab-2000 Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AWCS) to Saudi Arabia.
