Former MLA Prabhat Biswal Joins BJP, Deals Major Blow To BJD In Cuttack

Former Cuttack-Chowdwara MLA Parvata Vishal has joined the BJP. Parvata Vishal reached the BJP state office in a huge rally from Bhubaneswar Master Canteen Chowk. He joined the BJP in the presence of BJP state president Manmohan Samal and Chief Minister Mohan Majhi. He was expelled from the BJD a few months ago for anti-party activities.

He left Cuttack with more than 10,000 supporters and party workers. He met all the supporters at Bhubaneswar Master Canteen Chowk. From there, he reached the state BJP office in a big procession. He formally joined the BJP at the merger ceremony at the state office.

Parvata Vishal has been a three-time MLA. In 2004, he was elected as an MLA from Cuttack Sadar assembly constituency. After that, he was elected from Chaudwara-Cuttack assembly constituency in 2009 and 2014. Parvata was embroiled in a chit fund case. For this reason, Parvathi did not get a ticket from BJD in the 2019 elections. Instead of Parvathi, the BJD gave a ticket to his son Sauvik from the Cuttack-Chowdhary seat. Sauvik won. Even a few months ago, Sauvik Vishal was suspended by BJD for voting for independent candidate Dilip Roy in the Rajya Sabha elections.
