This time in the IPL, some unmarried and divorced players are moving around with their girlfriends. They are travelling in the team bus and are also staying in the team hotel. It is learnt that the BCCI has expressed its deep displeasure over this. The BCCI is not happy about this. A senior BCCI official said that this ‘girlfriend culture’ in the IPL is breaking the rules and it is a threat for the future. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is going to bring strict rules to break this girlfriend culture.
Players like Hardik Pandya, Yashashvi Jaiswal, Arshadeep Singh and Ishan Kishan are moving around from venue to venue without any hesitation with their girlfriends. They are staying in their team hotels. According to national media reports, the BCCI is not at all happy about the ‘girlfriend culture’. Earlier, some of them were promoting betting apps on social media. The BCCI is preparing to bring new rules against such disorderly conduct. Such a tradition can encourage fixing in the IPL. This will tarnish the image of both the BCCI and the IPL.
A senior BCCI official said, ‘If such a tradition is not stopped now, it will create problems in the future. We see that team buses are waiting for ‘girlfriends’. They are staying in the same hotels. After the players make their girlfriends official, the ACU (Anti-Corruption Unit) officials allow them to stay. I do not understand when this ‘official girlfriend’ rule came. The BCCI does not have any such rule. As per the previous rules, the players’ wives or family members were allowed to stay with them.’ The BCCI will discuss this in its next meeting. There will be new guidelines for ‘Girlfriend Culture’. This will not only apply to IPL, but also to the Indian team. There are different owners of the franchises in IPL. So the BCCI is going to bring such rules, which all the franchises will follow.
