Floating solar power project in the state. Floating solar photovoltaic (FSPV) project will be implemented in 2 medium-sized reservoirs. For this, 6 medium-sized reservoirs will be inspected. After visiting all these reservoirs, the officials will select 2 reservoirs. The final decision will be made after the officials of various departments inspect them together.
Possibility of floating solar power project in reservoirs While Harvangi Dam in Gajapati district has been explored, Ramial Dam in Dhenkanal district and Derjang Dam in Angul district will be visited on 20th and 21st, Jharbandh Dam in Bargarh district and Gohira Dam in Deogarh district will be visited on 22nd and 23rd. They will assess how far the floating solar power project will be beneficial there. The Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) substation near the dam will be visited.
The possibility of generating maximum electricity from there will be examined. Officials from the state government’s Power Department, Industries Department, Fisheries and Livestock Department, Forest and Environment Department, and Tourism Department will jointly examine the possibility of a floating solar power project. Officials from Gridco and OPTCL will also go along with this, informed Sushil Kumar Behera, Chief Engineer of the State Water Resources Department.
