In the post, they said, “A graphic about petrol is going viral on social media. It claims that 100% petrol, i.e. petrol without ethanol, will be sold from August 5. This claim is completely false. The viral post also says that E20 petrol will be available at a price of Rs 105 to Rs 110 per litre.” This claim is also false.

In the post, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPG) said, “E20 petrol continues to be sold in the country. This is part of the government’s ethanol blended petrol programme. E20 petrol is blended with petrol. It is important to verify information from official sources of the government and oil marketing companies (OMCs) before sharing any viral news related to petrol prices or the government’s fuel policy.”
